Covid-19 pandemic forces carriers to suspend services

Maersk and Ocean Network Express (ONE) have announced service suspensions due to the market demand reductions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Danish shipping giant will be seasonally suspending its YoYo service as of Week 18 until the end of June. The final voyage before the suspension will depart Xiamen on 22 April and Melbourne on 11 May. The service is expected to resume subject to improved market demand.

In addition, Maersk will adjust the schedule of its Dragon service to ensure it will continue to provide South China coverage, by adding a call at Hong Kong both southbound and northbound. The first voyage to incorporate Hong Kong will be the MOL Genesis 017S / 020N ETD Yokohama 21 April.

ONE is suspending the China Australia service (CAE) which is jointly operated with Maersk and MSC. This suspension is expected to last until at least the end of the second quarter of 2020.
Alternative cover of the CAE ports is provided by inducing a Hong Kong call to the North East Asia Australia (AUN) Service, also jointly operated with the same consortia – Maersk and MSC, according to ONE.
