• Maersk enables End to End (Store Door) shipments of refrigerated as well as dry cargo from the customer’s factory via Haldia Dock Complex to its destination in Los Angeles, Alexandria Newark and Savannah
• The Haldia port with its fixed weekly connections has reduced cargo dwell time from 7 days to 3 days thus saving significantly on transportation and warehousing costs

Maersk Line, the global containerized division of the Maersk Group, announced the successful execution of its first Reefer as well as Dry store door shipments from customer’s door step via Haldia Dock Complex to its destinations in Los Angeles, Alexandria, Newark and Savannah.

The consignments were traditionally shipped from Kolkata port, however with the opportunity of increased draft at port and its fixed weekly sailings, Haldia offered a better prospect for the customer.

Maersk Line has been committed to the East Indian market, and their efforts were also recognized by industry peers at the beginning of this year when they were recognized as the Container Shipping Line of the year in Kolkata.

Commenting on this achievement, Mr Steve Felder, Managing Director, Maersk Line (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives) said, “We are committed to delivering the best integrated logistical solutions tailor-made to suit our customers in every geography. Our first Store Door (SD) Reefer project from Haldia is a significant landmark and the first of many such initiatives to follow. We will continue to work on our E2E service offerings and further simplify trade in this region.”
