According to Danish financial daily Børsen, the world’s second-largest containerline is studying buying DB Schenker, which has been put up for sale by parent Deutsche Bahn.

Maersk CEO Vincent Clerc told the newspaper his company was conducting a “very cautious approach” towards any DB Schenker acquisition.

Analysts at Sydbank, suggest another Danish name in logistics, DSV, remains the favourite to take over the German transport group.

DB Schenker has been valued at EUR15bn ($16.4bn). The huge company employs around 72,000 people around the world.
