The fourth-party logistics (4PL) relationship between Danish ocean carrier Maersk and agricultural innovation firm Syngenta Crop Protection has been extended for a further five years.

This renewal demonstrates both businesses’ commitment to ethical logistics through continuous innovation and supply chain optimization.

With both businesses dedicated to cutting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout their logistical operations, sustainability continues to be a key component of the collaboration. While Syngenta wants to decarbonize its operations with explicit environmental standards, Maersk has set a goal to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2040. Ongoing sustainability evaluations and regular emissions reporting are crucial indicators of the partnership’s effectiveness.

In addition to discovering strategies to lower GHG emissions within Syngenta’s supply chain, Syngenta and Maersk have successfully handled major interruptions over the past eight years, including the Red Sea crisis and the Covid-19 outbreak.
