Mahagenco has launched tender for coal imports.
Power utility Mahagenco has decided to import two million tons of coal to be used on its Koradi, Chandrapur, and Bhusawal power plants, even as Western Coalfields says that it has been supply adequate coal supply.
For the past three years, the company did not import any coal. However, the latest coal shortage has forced Mahagenco to go to the seaborne market, following the steps of NTPC.
As of August 24, coal stocks at the power plants of Mahagenco were at seven days of burning at Koradi, 2.5 days in Nasik and Paras, six days at Bhusawal; two days at Parli and Chandrapur; and four days at Khaparkheda.
