Maharashtra has been the top exporting state in India but its share has been gradually declining over the years. Perhaps, more incentives, especially for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that contribute to almost half of all state’s exports can help in boosting the share in nation’s export basket.

Prashant Girbane, Director-General of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) opines that development of ‘plug-n-play’ private industrial parks will reduce set-up time for global players.

The state government has announced several plans including a rent subsidy of 50% to small-scale industrial units for participation in industrial exhibitions in foreign countries, awards to the best exporters from the state, and the establishment of new international exhibition centres near Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nagpur.
