The Major Ports have recorded a growth of 5.13 per cent for the period April-August 2018, registering a throughput of 288.38 million tonnes as against 274.32 million tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year, as per official data.
The highest growth was registered by Kamarajar Port (17.24 per cent), followed by Deendayal Port (11.16 per cent), Paradip Port (10.93 per cent), Cochin Port (10.13 per cent) and Kolkata Port (9.01 per cent).
Kolkata (incl. Haldia), Paradip, Visakhapatnam, Kamarajar, Chennai, Cochin, New Mangalore, JNPT and Deendayal ports registered positive growth in traffic during the period.
