November 10, 2020: A delegation led by Maritime Association of Nationwide Shipping Agencies (MANSA) President Mr. Hiren Ved visited Mumbai Port office to welcome its new chairman Mr Rajiv Jalota and briefed him.
Extending complete support to the new chairman, Mr Ved said, “We have been sharing very pertinent, pragmatic and timely suggestions for keeping up improved efficiency levels of the Port despite acute competition and various inherent infrastructural and long-standing deficiencies/issues for mutually beneficial existence in this premier port.”
Mr Jalota is a 1988 batch officer from Maharashtra cadre of Indian Administrative Service and was the first GST Commissioner in the western state. He has also served as an additional municipal commissioner of BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation, collectors of Yavatmal and Latur districts MANSA, which gives a powerful voice to the grievances of ship agents and addresses their issues to enhance the working and business environment, had President (designate 2021-22) Captain Ram Iyer and Vice-President R. Subramanyam Swamy and Sushil Mulchandani, executive committee member in the delegation welcoming the new chairman.
About MANSA: Established in 1977, Maritime Association of Nationwide Shipping Agencies – India which was till recently known as Mumbai and Nhava-Sheva Ship-Agents Association – (MANSA), underwent a name change to position the association’s nation-wide character given that its members account for 85% of the cargo handled at all ports across the country.
