MANSA felicitates Mumbai Port chairman Sanjay Bhatia on his 4-year stint ahead of his transfer

August 9, 2020: Maritime Association of Nationwide Shipping Agencies (MANSA) felicitated Mumbai Port Chairman, Mr. Sanjay Bhatia on his successful and eventful stint at the port for the past four years following his transfer by the government.

“The seamless facilitation of trade during the past four years in general and during the current pandemic in particular is testimony to the tenure of Mr. Sanjay Bhatia who executed his tasks as an administrator without any fear or favour. The trade in general and MANSA members in particular would forever be indebted to his prompt and patient hearing to the grievances and resolving the issues quickly.” said Amit Wason, President, MANSA

With over three decades in government service as Maharashtra state cadre IAS officer, Mr. Sanjay Bhatia, a mechanical engineer and a management graduated from Southern Cross University, Australia, who also simultaneously steered the Indian Port Association as its chairman, was felicitated with a plaque on his last day in office as the chairman of the port by officials of MANSA including Hiren Ved, Captain Ram Iyer and Swamy.

On behalf of MANSA, Hiren Ved coordinated the impending issues faced by the port users and constantly briefed the port administration.

During his tenure as the port chairman, Mr. Sanjay Bhatia was instrumental in various milestones like removal of pinnacle which remained under water at BPX channel as a setback for ages, timely allotments of contracts and ensuring draughts availability in Port for deeper vessels, created environment for better functioning of ICTPL terminal.
Practicing as a Preceptor (Teacher) of Heartfulness (Sahaj Marg) Meditation for the last 19 years, Mr. Bhatia also introduced private workers for carrying out work in 3rd shift to meet the vexatious shortage for operations at the port.

Mumbai port administration also developed a major passenger terminal and attracted huge International tourist vessels during Mr Bhatia’s regime while the underutilized and loss-making ship repair facilities like dry dock was handed over to COCHIN ShipYard at a good and remunerative terms for the Port.
