GCMD was formed as a non-profit organisation, is located in Singapore and seeks to assist the industry in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by developing guidelines for future fuels and testing low-carbon solutions.
MSC has pushed for the provision of a variety of alternative fuels and has set a precise aim of net decarbonisation by 2050.
As an Impact Partner, MSC will contribute funds to GCMD’s pooled resources for tests and trials.
“We are committed to helping to tackle climate change and in GCMD we believe we have
found an excellent partner to help drive the green transition in our sector,” stated
Bud Darr, executive vice president of Maritime Policy & Government Affairs at MSC Group.
MSC noted it will also make in-kind contributions through project involvement, such as access to vessels, operational equipment, and other assets, as well as vessel running data and assessment reports, to support GCMD’s projects.
