Nepal Vayusewa Nigam (Nepal Airlines) has emerged as the second-highest cargo-carrying airline from Nepal in 2023 and was felicitated for the same at the 30th Nepal Cargo Day. Executive Chairman of the corporation, Yuvraj Adhikari acknowledged the award as a booster for the cargo carrier to expand capacity. Nepal Airlines has been transporting a variety of cargo, including hazardous materials, to international destinations.
Recently, Nepal Airlines had expressed interest for adding short-take-off aircrafts to its fleet, and has issued a formal request for proposals as well. The carrier is seeking to add three newly-built STOL aircrafts, which should be reconfigurable, such that the seats can be removed or folded in order to transport cargo.
