Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) will establish a new goods terminal at Shokhuvi railway station, 25 kilometres from Dimapur, to accommodate rising demand from traders. On April 9, NFR hosted a roadshow with traders and businessmen in the Dimapur region, including traders involved in the loading and unloading of stone, cement, pulses, salt, and edible oil, at both the Dimapur and Shokhuvi railway stations. The participants were given information about the recently-opened Shokhuvi railway freight terminal, which features a full-length goods yard, a well-developed circulating space, and modern lighting. A field tour to the new terminal was also planned to get a first hand look at the amenities on offer. Since Dimapur railway station was unable to handle all bookings due to congested location because of lack of space due to encroachments, the additional goods terminal was set up by NFR.

Meanwhile there have been serious concerns regarding the fate of Dimapur railway station which has become stagnated because no expansion or development could be undertaken on account of rampant encroachment on railway lands.
