The State Support Agreement (SSA) and Shareholder Agreement (SHA) for the establishment of an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Gaya, a node under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), were signed by the Government of Bihar, the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), and the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) in a historic move to speed up industrial development in Bihar.
With an estimated investment potential of INR 16,524 crore and a project cost of INR 1,339 crore, IMC Gaya will span 1,670 acres and be situated 39 kilometers south of Gaya International Airport. About 1,09,185 jobs are anticipated to be created by this enormous project, boosting the local economy. Building materials, agri-food processing, leather goods, ready-made clothing, furniture, handloom and handicrafts, engineering & fabrications, and medical equipment are just a few of the businesses that IMC Gaya will be intentionally designed to draw in.
With NH-19 (Golden Quadrilateral) only 10 km away and NH-22 2 km away, IMC Gaya’s strategic location provides excellent connectivity and easy access to major transportation hubs. Additionally, being close to Gaya Junction (40 km) and the soon-to-be New Paharpur Railway Station under EDFC (45 km) facilitates rail access.
Additionally, there are airports at Gaya (30 km), Patna (135 km), and Ranchi (150 km) that provide access to ports and terminals, including Haldia Port in Kolkata (550 km), the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) terminals at Gaighat, Patna (145 km), and Ramnagar, Varanasi (210 km).
To improve accessibility even more, three greenfield road projects have been suggested for IMC Gaya. IMC Gaya is expected to become a more appealing hub for both domestic and foreign businesses due to its strong connectivity, which includes the Golden Quadrilateral and multi-track railway lines.
The cluster will support industrial operations and workforce needs with a skill development center, fire station, administrative office, parking, and commercial space in addition to extensive infrastructure such as a 29.89 km internal road network, 220/33 KV and 33/11 KV electrical substations, 162 MVA assured power supply, and a 19 MLD water supply system.
In order to maintain environmental compliance, the cluster will also feature “Plug n Play” infrastructure, such as stormwater drainage, solid waste management, water treatment, sewage treatment, and common wastewater treatment plants, as well as green landscaping.
