Nippon Express USA has launched “US EXPORT SERVICE Via MEXICO” (U.S.E. ME), a new BCP-compatible multimodal transport service for shipments from the United States and Canada to Asia via Mexico.

The service moves cargo overland by trailer from various locations in North America to a Nippon Express warehouse in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, where it is loaded into containers and transported by sea from the port of Manzanillo in Mexico to ports in Japan and other Asian countries.

The service avoids port congestion on the US West Coast and thus offers a reliable delivery time, approximately 37 days from Chicago, US to Yokohama port in Japan. Nippon Express noted that the delivery time for overland freight along the same route via the West Coast is currently around 40 to 60 days. Last year Nippon Express also started a service from Japan to North America via Mexico to avoid congestion on the US West Coast. With the U.S.E.ME service now operational, services via Mexico are available in both directions between Japan and North America.
