Ocean Alliance unveils upgraded global service network

The Ocean Alliance has announced its latest global service network, which will launch in April with 42 services and an annual capacity of 22.4 million teu on the major trade routes.

The Ocean Alliance, comprising CMA CGM, COSCO, OOCL and Evergreen, has announced its latest global service network, which will launch in April with 42 services, 352 container vessels and an annual capacity of 22.4 million TEU on the world’s major trade routes.

The container shipping alliance has published its new Ocean Alliance Day 6 Product, which includes the following services worldwide:

  • Seven Far East – North Europe services

The OCEAN Alliance has seven service loops, including four upgraded loops, offering a connection between 18 Asian ports and 15 North European ports directly and providing around 100 port-pair coverage with a competitive product on comprehensive coverage and high-frequency service.

The Ocean Alliance will provide four dedicated services including one upgraded loop, offering extensive coverage with a connection between 15 Asian ports and 16 Mediterranean ports directly and providing around 120 port pairs coverage.

  • 23 Transpacific Services

The alliance will increase deployment continuously by upsizing and launching new services to meet the growing demand with a total of 23 Transpacific services in DAY6 Product, including three upgraded and three new loops (PSW2+USEC1).

  • 11 Pacific Southwest services

The DAY6 product would consist of 11 loops, with two additional loops and two upgraded loops compared to nine loops in DAY5. OCEAN Alliance would provide direct callings from South China, North China, Central China, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia.

The newly added AWE7 would offer direct calls from Southern China, Central China and South Korea to the key ports in South Atlantic region including Savannah, Norfolk and Miami, which would provide broad market coverage and tailor-made calls to our clients.

“The OCEAN Alliance will continue to work with regulators and industry stakeholders to find workable solutions to these challenges, while continuing to offer reliable and efficient services and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements,” said COSCO in a statement.

Launched in spring 2017, Ocean Alliance is the world’s largest operational alliance between shipping companies on the world’s major trade routes, according to CMA CGM, which already operates 15 dual-fuel, liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered ships under the aegis of Ocean Alliance, stating that it will add 11 more by year-end 2022.

The CMA CGM Group’s entire e-methane ready fleet will expand to 44 ships by the end of 2024.
