Odisha would have as many as 13 Non-Major Ports, according to the Odisha Commerce Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi.
Keeping in view the surge in industrialization in the State, Odisha Government had identified 13 potential spots for ports.
Though MoUs had been worked upon, the projects had failed to take off earlier due to land acquisition-related hindrances. As a result none of the Non-Major Port project could make any visible headway.
However things are now in better shapes and the projects are back on track after the final disposal, said Odisha Commerce Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi.
The proposed port projects are Bichitrapur, Subarnarekha river mouth, Bahabalpur, Chandipur, Inchudi (all in Balasore district), Chudamani (Bhadrak district), Jatadhari mouth (Jagatsinghpur district), Astaranga, Baliharachandi (Puri district), Palur, Bahuda river mouth (Ganjam district).
