The Paradip Port Trust (PPT) has achieved 100-MMT cargo handling for the fifth year in a row. Despite the Covid-19 crisis and huge shortfall in iron ore exports, it has once again repeated the feat by February 18 in the current fiscal. Last year, the coveted mark of 100 MMT had been achieved on February 21.

In spite of shortfall of iron ore/pellet shipments by 30.24 %, the PPT could achieve a 36.86% growth in coastal shipping of coal and a 6.77% growth in POL by showing better efficiency and that too in three days before in comparison to the last fiscal.

Marking the occasion, symbolic cake cutting was done at the Officers’ Club by PPT Chairman PL Haranadh on Saturday in the presence of Deputy Chairman AK Bose and other officials.

For the feat, Haranadh congratulated all officers/employees, user industries, stevedores, steamer agents, trade unions and PPP operators for their continued faith in the ability of the port. He also appreciated the support of all concerned Government authorities for their sustained effort.
