PCS 1x Roadshow organised for the Trade at NMPT

As an Ease of doing business initiative of Govt. of India, New Mangalore Port Trust in association with Indian Ports Association and Logistics software company M/s Portall organised a road show for Port Community system (PCS1x) at New Mangalore Port Auditorium on 12.07.2019.

The Road show was conducted with the objective of sensitizing & creating wider awareness amongst the maritime community and creating a robust Port Community System.

PCS 1x was rolled out in 11th December 2018 – simultaneously at 13 major ports of India. Today over 14000 users exchange more than 70000 transactions daily including customs, payments, vessel, cargo and delivery related messages.

The roadshow hopes to speed up onboarding by the rest of the maritime ecosystem since the platform is designed to handle 27 stakeholder categories and is able to evolve basis any changes requested by stakeholders. All major trade associations are working alongside IPA and M/s. Portall to improve adoption and address additional requests from the stakeholders.

Shri Y R Belaagal, Traffic Manager welcomed the gathering. Shri A V Ramana, Chairman New Mangalore Port Trust inaugurated the show and addressed the trade fraternity. He requested co-operation and adoption of the same from all participants for the benefit of maritime trade.

In the Chairman’s address he mentioned digitization is one of the initiative under ease of doing business when improved India has ranking from 127 to 77. Further he informed that pcs 1X is common umbrella for all its stakeholders for seamless exchange of messages which provide a more stable solution at cloud platform. Portal presented to the trade community the benefits and features of PCS 1x and indicated additional functionalities in the pipeline.

The session closed with an interactive discussion on the way forward and live onboarding of new users onto PCS 1x. During the session feedback were taken from port users for further improvements.

The roadshow received good response from the shipping agents, custom house agents, terminal operators, and container freight station, Mercantile Marine Department, Port Health Organization and other officials from ports in Mangalore.

Adoption of PCS1x would result in marked improvement for the Ease-of –doing business initiative. It will help in improved visibility, reduction in time and cost along with documentation work. The digital solution also aids in improving the payment facility and e-delivery in maritime trade.
