Petronet to expand Dahej LNG terminal, add new terminal at Gopalpur Port

In line with the growing LNG demand in India, Petronet is currently expanding its 17.5 mtpa LNG terminal at Dahej by adding more 5 mtpa capacity. It will also construct two LNG tanks adding to the six existing tanks.

Addition of the 5MTPA capacity should be complete by March 2025. In the FY-24, the Dahej terminal processed 865 TBTU of LNG as compared to 704 TBTU processed during the previous financial year. In addition to the Dahej facility, Petronet has 5MTPA installed capacity in Kochi and is in the process of adding an LNG terminal at Gopalpur Port. The Kochi facility currently operates at about 20% of its total capacity, but once the Kochi-Bangalore pipeline is commissioned the capacity utilisation will drastically improve.

The Gopalpur Port project is in initial stages and will take atleast three more years to complete. In December last year, Petronet executed binding deals with Gopalpur Ports for constructing its first LNG terminal on India’s east coast.
