Pacific International Line (PIL) is pleased to successfully launch another block train service in China, this time from Jiaxing to Shanghai! 80 TEUs of textiles, electronic goods and daily consumer products were transported for six hours over rail from Jiaxing East Yard to Shanghai Yangshan Port via Shanghai Luchao Port Central Station before being stowed onto vessels heading for India and the Middle East, said a company release.

This is part of the PIL Intermodal Services introduced recently. With this block train service, customers will have an alternative and faster land route from Jiaxing, a key manufacturing location in China, to Shanghai Yangshan Port, which connects to many countries in the world. Each week, PIL runs 18 container shipping services operating out of Shanghai Port – 5 from Yangshan Port and 13 from Waigaoqiao Port, read the release.

Leveraging on its wide network, PIL offers its intermodal service of rail, truck and barges in Asia, Africa, Middle East, Latin America and Oceania. This solution aims to support customers in their journey to reduce carbon emissions as well as to achieve PIL’s goal to be a sustainable shipping line, release added.
