PM Modi lays foundation stone for Vadhavan Port project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Vadhavan Port project, which is set to become one of India’s largest deep-water ports, with a total project cost of Rs 76,220 crore.

The port will feature 9 container terminals, 4 multipurpose berths, 4 liquid cargo berths, a Ro-Ro berth, and a Coast Guard berth, with a depth of 20 meters, handling vessels up to 24,000 TEUs.

On the occasion the Prime Minister said, “The Vadhavan Port will be the country’s largest container port and will be counted among the world’s deep-water ports. It will become an epicenter of trade and industrial development for Maharashtra and India.”

Modi also addressed the recent decision to develop the Dighi Port Industrial Area, which will be located in Raigarh, Maharashtra. He referred to it as an “identity of Maharashtra and a symbol of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s dreams.” The Prime Minister emphasized that the Vadhavan Port will transform the economic landscape of the region due to its connectivity.
