PSA Breakbulk has established Belgium’s first Project Cargo Ecosystem (PCE) at the country’s major port in Antwerp. The PCE is a one-stop shop breakbulk terminal facility located below the locks on the south side of Churchill Dock and is the first of its type in the Belgian port.
Furthermore, the PCE provides infrastructure, equipment, and space to load, unload, store, and handle all forms of project cargo, with direct tide-free access to the sea and the hinterland.
Also, the terminal has a quay length of 550 metres, a draught of 13 metres, and a yard area of 140,000 m².
It is now outfitted with SelfPropelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) with up to 40 axle lines to transport big and bulky freight.
A permanent heavy lift crane with a lifting capability of up to 750 tonnes was also recently built, establishing the record for the port’s highest quayside lifting capacity.
PSA Breakbulk has also invested in powering its equipment and erecting a wind turbine, which is expected to be operational by 2025.
