“RailTel got its mandate to go international almost a year back. We are trying to get business overseas. Last year we had a visit to Vietnam under the umbrella of Namaste Vietnam, where we pitched our competence to the Vietnamese authorities,” a company official told ETInfra.
RailTel had participated in the railway conference, along with some of the private rail industry partners. The company also interacted with the urban transportation and railway authorities in the Southeast Asian country. RailTel is in discussion with the embassy officials and local government authorities in Vietnam.
“We got to know about their plans for the years 2030 and 2050. The country is looking for modernisation of its infrastructure and related funding,” the official said, adding that as far as funding the projects is concerned that can happen through government-to-government discussion.
Usually the kind of financing that is anticipated by the countries for such projects is end-to-end funding. Under government-to-government funding, first a project is conceptualised, its cost is worked out and then the proposal is sent to the government.
