As per chief secretary Sanjeev Kaushal, the establishment of goods sheds in the state is set to substantially enhance the transportation network.
This development is projected to have a positive impact on trade and commerce within the region, leading to significant transformations in the overall economic landscape.
In order to expedite the process and ensure smooth coordination with the Railway Ministry for the project’s development, the Haryana Government has decided to designate a senior officer from the Public Works (Building and Roads) Department at the state level.
This decision was taken at a meeting on “Synergising Railways”, chaired by chief secretary, reports Times of India.
“The Additional Deputy Commissioner and Executive Engineer of PWD (B and R) will coordinate and supervise the smooth functioning of goods sheds within their respective districts”, the chief secretary stated.
Haryana is currently in the process of developing rail corridors to improve the connectivity for freight transportation.
This includes the Haryana Orbital Rail corridor — a new electrified Double Broad-gauge (BG) rail line of around 126 km from Palwal to Sonipat, via Sohna, Manesar and Kharkhouda in the State of Haryana, bypassing Delhi and will serve both passenger and freight traffic.
Further, the Union Railway Ministry recently has approved South Haryana Economic Rail Corridor — spanning 129 km — which aims to establish connectivity between the state with four ports in Gujarat.
The corridor to be built will begin from Farrukhnagar in Gurgaon to Loharu in Bhiwani via Jhajjar and Charkhi Dadri, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,225 crore.
In the future, the Farrukhnagar-Loharu track will be connected to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat in Haryana through the ongoing construction of the orbital rail corridor.
According to reports, over the past three years, Haryana has moved 72.01 million tonnes of cargo, reflecting its robust economy and thriving trade.
The state is also renovating 29 railway stations comprehensively to improve its transportation system and facilities. The PM Gati Shakti NMP is working with the objective of holistically integrating the interventions of various ministries and addressing the gaps to ensure infrastructure for seamless movement of people, goods and services.
