The Railways Ministry is looking forward to revenues of Rs. 1.8 trillion from its freight operations in FY25, which is 6.5 per cent higher than the revised estimates. The rail freight carrier had earlier missed its targets set during the beginning of the year, which does not bode well to reach its target of moving 3000MT by 2030. A bulk of this revenue will come from transportation of coal at approximately Rs 91,000 crore.

  1. OnceVizhinjam port is in full operation, Nagarkoil Railway Junction will have much more container than they can handle. Mother ships will discharge containers for Northern and Central India. All Export containers will come to Vizhinjam to load in ships as they can save on handling charge.
Railway will be fully busy with these added containers both ways
