Mr Ravi M. Parmar, IAS, was given a grand farewell last week by the HODs, other officers and staff of Deendayal Port Trust (DPT) on his demitting the post of Chairman after completing his term.

A farewell function was also organised with representatives of the media.

Mr Parmar’s tenure has seen the port attain new highs in cargo throughput, of over 100 million tonnes per annum, as well as in operations, and take expeditious and concrete steps to augment its infrastructure. It recommenced container handling, and ambitious projects like the Smart Industrial Port City were formulated with Mr Parmar at the helm, among other initiatives.

Thanks to the many measures taken during Mr Parmar’s tenure, Deendayal Port is on course to handle 150 million tonnes per annum by 2022, it was highlighted.

Mr Parmar was with Deendayal Port (then Kandla Port) from January 2014, first as Chairman-in-Charge and then as full-time Chairman. He was also Chairman of Mumbai Port Trust.
