Raxaul-Haldia Expressway being developed

This will be a 6-lane expressway stretching for 719 kilometres, starting on the Nepal border at Raxaul and connecting to Haldia Port in West Bengal.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the expressway that will traverse through Deoghar and Jamtara before culminating at the Haldia Port in West Bengal. About 65-kilometer stretch passes through Deoghar and a 50-kilometer stretch in Jamtara. Commuters can now reach Patna and Kolkata from Jharkhand’s Deoghar in Just 3 hours, creating a new industrial corridor. It will not only boost connectivity to Nepal, but also speed up logistics of minerals in the region.

The Raxaul-Haldia Expressway will start from Raxaul and pass through East Champaran, Sheohar, Samastipur, Begusarai, and cross the Ganga River via a new bridge from Suryagarha to Malaypur, Chirayandi, Banka’s Katoria, Mohanpur in Deoghar, and further through Nagpur, Ghoramara, Sonaraytahdi, Palojori in Jamtara, reaching Kundhit, Bolpur, Arambagh, Rajhatty, East Midnapore, and finally Haldia Port.
