An impressive growth rate of 17% was achieved last year at the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT), where DP World Cochin handled 840,564 TEU, an all-time high. Last year the terminal received 657 vessel calls, making it one of the busiest in South and East India.
Over the past year DP World Cochin has introduced new ship-to-shore container gantry cranes and e-RTGs, and expanded the available yard space, boosting the terminal’s total capacity to approximately 1.4 million TEU a year. The electrification of all yard equipment has also minimised the carbon footprint of the terminal.
DP World has also launched the 75,000ft2 Cochin Economic Zone which is co-located with the DP World Cochin terminal. This is India’s first economic zone within a major port, and is expected to strengthen Cochin’s position as a key trade gateway.
