The service in Patna will start in a week’s time, whereas the one in Bhagalpur is still awaiting a nod from the Forest Department. The stretch of the water in Bhagalpur is home to the Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary. It is important to make sure that the vessel service will not cause any permanent harm to the habitat of the endangered Gangetic dolphins.

The new roll-on roll-off vessel service will operate on the Digha Ghat – JP Ganga Path route. This is done in order to promote river tourism and so that residents and tourists can also enjoy the beauty of the Ganga river and enjoy the unique wildlife in the region.

The vessel will accommodate 300 people at a given time and will run four to five trips in a day. Those who are interested in trying river cruises can now make use of this facility as there will also be an option to hire the entire vessel for private events.

As of now, the price of the tickets have not been fixed yet, but it is expected to be nominal, something on the lines of MV Ganga Vihar (approximately INR 300 per person), which is already operational in Patna since February, 2023.
