The road transport and highways ministry has announced plans to centralize all modes of transport including roadways, railways, airways, waterways and ropeways, into a single location. This will help to streamline the user experience for passengers and freight movers. The logistics terminals will act as a single point for connecting various modes of transport and will simplify the 87% of the traffic currently moving by roads.

The plan is to develop two pilot hubs in Katra and Tirupati and another two in Varanasi and Nagpur through National Highways Logistics Management, a fully owned company of National Highways Authority of India.
