Sandvik Coromant is headquartered in Sandviken, Sweden and is represented in more than 130 countries. Sandvik Asia Pvt. Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Sandvik AB, announced the launch of Sandvik India Diversity Awards last year- an initiative to recognize excellence and commitment to gender concerns by individuals, NGO, corporate, government academia and other organisations in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, who have made a difference in gender equality, diversity and inclusion by:
• Fostering and promoting an inclusive approach in the communities
• Challenging and overcoming conscious and sub-conscious bias
• Developing a gender-balanced leadership in the workplace
• Helping women achieve their ambitions personally and professionally
Eight individuals were selected from the award process and their projects will be supported under the Sandvik Asia CSR. The final round saw 24 finalists [3 in each of the 8 categories] presenting in front of the grand jury.
This year the awards held on 25th May 2018, were preceded by a Mapping and Mentoring programme to identify and support individuals who demonstrate exemplary leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion .
Sanjam was awarded for the Corporate Policy of Sitara Shipping for Empowering Women in Maritime. Sanjam credits Dr.Malini Shankar -The DG Shipping who had encouraged her to apply.
She presented to the Jury members Erwin Steinhauser , MD Sandvik Asia Private Limited as well as Sara Larson, GM , Swedish Chamber of Commerce. Another Jury Member The Consul General of Sweden Ulrika Sundberg was happy to note that Sanjam is on the Executive Board of the WMU which is based in Malmo, Sweden.
The jury highlighted her passion and commitment and touched upon salient features of her presentation on Empowering Women in Maritime. Jury Partners were Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Consul General of Sweden and Global Connect Network India.
