SARJAK Container Lines specialising in the carriage of ODC/OOG cargoes on its own fleet of special containers, was appointed by Optimum Freight Solutions Pvt Ltd for smooth handling and loading of two fully built industrial, Air Cooled Heat Exchangers with dimensions (L x W x H) 11.20 x 6.85 x 3.05 metres and weight of 34 metric tonnes on 40’ flat racks, from Coimbatore to Shuaiba Port in Kuwait.
The greatest challenge was posed by the width of the cargo, as the ports in South India have a gate limitation of around 6 metres only. Loading the cargo from Chennai was not feasible as per the route survey.
SARJAK decided to route it through Kattupalli Port. The gates at Kattupalli Port were an issue as they are inward gates having a limitation of 5.5 metres. Detailed discussions were held between SARJAK Container Lines’ Operations Head and Kattupalli terminal on the safety measures and viability of the movement and, upon conducting a detailed route survey, it was decided to gate-in the cargo through the outer gates after stopping all traffic leading to the port. This gate was wide enough and the cargo was gated-in smoothly, without incident.
The cargo was safely loaded on MV AS Carinthia on June 23, 2017 at Kattupalli Port.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
