Seaways Shipping And Logistics Limited (Seaways) has on May 11, 2017, created a record in loading of steel HR coils of 14,808.15 MT at Paradip Port – breaking the previous record of 14,192 MT. This feat was achieved on the vessel MV Xing Hao Hai loading cargo for Tata Steel. Seaways also set a new record of average loading rate (per day) for this cargo at this port by achieving 12,938 MT.
This record was achieved after overcoming various hurdles, including the vessel being moved to another berth and failure of some material handling equipment at a critical juncture.
Capt. Sanjay Basu, heading the Seaways Paradip team said, “Meticulous planning, excellent coordination of the ground staff and complete support from the customer and the Seaways leadership team have made it possible to achieve this milestone.”
