On Saturday, May 9, 2020, India shipped the second consignment of wheat as a part of its developmental assistance to Afghanistan from Kandla International Container Terminal (KICT), Deendayal Port.
The consignment was carried by M.V. KASHAN – IIX1193W. The vessel berthed at KICT of Deendayal Port, Gujarat, India in the afternoon hours of May 8, 2020 and sailed out the next morning carrying 435 TEUs/10,962 metric tonnes of wheat to be shipped to Afghanistan. The shipment was a part of the lot of 75,000 metric tonnes of wheat consignment for Afghanistan. The shipper was the Ministry of External Affairs and the consignee Banayee Construction Company, Kabul, Afghanistan.
The vessel arrived at India Ports Global’s Chabahar Port terminal in Iran late afternoon on Monday, May 11. Earlier, the first lot of 203 TEUs/ 5,541.90 metric tonnes of wheat was shipped on April 13, 2020 on M.V. NEGAR – IIX1192W from Deendayal Port.
