The Sittwe Port in Myanmar, built under the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project received its 100th vessel call by MV Yadnar Pan Tuang which carried 2,200 tonnes of bagged cement, informed Bharat Freight Group the company operating the port. The port has so far handled 70 vessels carrying relief cargo of about 83,000 tonnes and 30 ships carrying commercial cargo weighing about 26,000 tonnes.

Sittwe Port has decreased the cost and time of transportation of goods between Kolkata and Agartala and Aizwal by 50%. The ongoing conflict in Myanmar has not impacted the functioning of the port. Bharat Freight Global along with a team in Yangon have been working to improve the infrastructure at the port. All the port warehouses are now almost completely restored to working conditions and all licences have been renewed along with insurance.
