The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting held Monday has granted approval to purchase an 80 ton capacity tug boat for the Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA).
While, there are 7 tugboats that are currently functioning well in the port of Colombo, It has been identified that one more tug vessel of 80 ton capacity should be procured for future operations, a statement on cabinet decisions said.
Accordingly, the purchase of 80 Ton Bollard Pull Twin Azimuth Stern Drive Harbor Tug Vessel for Port Authority has been considered.
The vessel will be purchased through an international competitive bidding process.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva to take necessary steps to procure the tug vessel.
