Additional secretary to the Shipping Ministry SM Ferdous Alam has been appointed Chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).
He joined the Bangladesh Civil Service’s 13th batch as an administration cadre. Alam graduated from the agriculture faculty at Bangladesh Agricultural University in 1988.
He was an assistant commissioner (lands), 1st class magistrate, magistrate of Fast Track Court at Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate, assistant deputy commissioner (ADC) (revenue and education), and deputy director of local government department.
He was also a senior assistant secretary to rural development cooperative division and the posts and telecommunications ministry, deputy secretary to the roads and highways department, director of the National Computer Training and Research in Bogura, director of the directorate of madrasas and technical education, joint secretary to the ministry of fisheries and livestock, and additional secretary to the ministry of fisheries and livestock and the ministry of shipping.
