Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) chief executive officer (CEO) Soren Toft has been elected as the new chair of the board of the international liner industry’s global representative body, World Shipping Council (WSC).

Randy Chen, vice president of Wan Hai Lines, has been named vice chair of the World Shipping Council (WSC) Board of Directors. Randy Chen and Soren Toft will begin their two-year terms immediately.

The new Chair and Vice Chair will take over after Hapag-Lloyd CEO Rolf Habben Jansen and ONE CEO Jeremy Nixon, who have been co-Chairs of the WSC Board for two mandates. The vast experience that Soren Toft and Randy Chen will contribute, as well as their contributions to the worldwide shipping business, are highlighted by WSC President and CEO Joe Kramek.
