Southern Central Railway offers itself to help on cement transportation. Vinon Kumar Yadav, general manager of the freighting company, met representatives from several cement manufacturers, including ltraTech Cement, Vasavadatta, Kesoram, Vikat Sagar, Manikgarh, Ramco, My Home, India Cements, JayPee, Pennar, and Zuari Cements.
During the meeting, manufacturers expressed their appeal for issues like freighting discount schemes. Yadav responded that manufacturers are welcomed to use several freight-friendly incentive schemes offered by Southern Central.
Following the meeting, cement manufacturers said that they are confident of an increase in the volume of cement transported via train. N Madhusudhana Rao, chief operations manager of Southern Central Railway, emphasised the need of having long term commitment by cement industry for better future prospects.
