Tamil Nadu to become the green Hydrogen capital of India

Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorin district will debut India’s first commercial production of largescale green hydrogen molecules. Sembcorp Industries, a Singapore-based energy and urban solutions provider is investing Rs 36,238 crore for setting up the green hydrogen/green ammonia manufacturing unit in the port city. The company will operate and produce green ammonia from the plant spread over 160 acres in the key port area of Tuticorin. The plant will initially produce 200,000 metric tonne per annum of green ammonia for exporting to Japan. The front-end engineering and design work for the plant has commenced.
