In addition to upgrading the facility to enable the export of soybean meal and other bulk grains, The Andersons, Inc. stated that it has inked a long-term lease arrangement for its operations at Port Houston. Increased efficiency and dependability will be the main goals of the improvements, which will also feature direct rail-based access for unloading soybean meal at the export location.
Up to 22,000 metric tons of soybean meal will now be stored for export at the Houston facility, which has a storage capacity of 6.3 million bushels and enables the export of over two million metric tons of grain yearly. Additional improvements include a new ship loading tower to improve loading efficiency and speed, as well as a new conveyance system to move items from storage to the ship loaders with ease.
