Lee & Muirhead Pvt. Ltd successfully handled another project cargo consignment recently, for Toshiba JSW Power Systems Pvt. Ltd through Kamarajar Port.
The first critical package, a generator stator weighing 400 tonnes and having dimensions, in metres, of 10.31 L x 5.92 W x 4.65 H, for NTPC’s Darlipali 2 x 800 MW super thermal power project in Odisha, was moved by roll-on operation at custom-built jetty in self-propelled barge MV AKUA KUEEN through Kamarajar Port. The entire work was executed by Lee & Muirhead Pvt. Ltd.
Toshiba JSW Power Systems had awarded the complete contract for this prestigious project to Lee & Muirhead, in which three such generator stator packages are involved.
This generator stator moved from Toshiba JSW Power Systems’ Manali (Chennai) manufacturing plant to Kamarajar Port on March 17, 2017 and the roll-on operation on the barge was successfully completed on March 20.
A specialised, self-propelled barge and Goldhofer girder bridge, custom-built to suit Indian road and bridge conditions, are being used for this movement—which is a first-of-its-kind in India.
