The White House is now looking to reverse retaliatory tariffs on agricultural products exported to India.

The tariffs were enacted after the Trump Administration took away steel and aluminum export exemptions from India.

Washington Senator Maria Cantwell has been championing negotiations for India to lift the tariffs on agricultural products like apples, lentils, and chickpeas.

The tariff removal would boost Washington’s apple exports by hundreds of millions of dollars.

Since the retaliatory tariffs have been in effect, Washington only exported about $3 million in apples to India per year. India was getting apples from South American countries instead.
