V.O Chidambaranar Port announces to develop MMLP

The new MMLP will provide facilities such as cold storage, warehouses equipped with mechanised material handling and intermodal transfer terminals for containers, bulk and break-bulk cargo.

The Tamil Nadu state government along with the V.O Chidambaranar Port Authority have announced plans to develop MMLP to enable seamless multimodal cargo transfer. A feasibility study is being carried out. With plans afoot to develop a transhipment hub with the implementation of the Rs 6,000 crore Outer Harbour project, the state is looking at developing the Thoothukudi MMLP on the lines of Rs 1,200 crore Mapeddu multi-modal logistics park (MMLP).

The new MMLP will provide facilities such as cold storage, warehouses equipped with mechanised material handling and intermodal transfer terminals for containers, bulk and break-bulk cargo.
