The Major Ports of the Nation which were governed by the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963, hitherto have been brought under the Major Ports Authorities Act, 2021 w.e.f. 03.11.2021. The Major Port Trust Act, 1963 has been repealed. As per the notification published in the Gazette of India, dated 31.01.2022, V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust has been renamed as V.O.Chidambaranar Port Authority. Accordingly, the V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust shall, henceforth, will function in the name of V.O.Chidambaranar Port Authority and shall be governed under the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021.
