In order to complement its newly announced passenger service between Bangkok and Mumbai, VietJet airline hopes to increase cargo volumes. Launched in December, the airline hopes the route would carry e-commerce shipments, replacement parts, and general cargo out of Thailand. In the meantime, clothing and pharmaceuticals are anticipated to be Mumbai’s top exports.
VietJet’s Bangkok hub offers transshipment opportunities to its larger Asia network. The airline’s Airbus A320/A321 aircraft, which have a maximum cargo capacity of about 16/20 tonnes, will be used to fly the daily flights. The first flight on the route since the collaboration was announced occurred on January 21. The cargo business will be managed by AVS GSA, a subsidiary of the ECS Group. Additionally, the two struck a broader partnership last year that encompasses Asia.
The airline, which operates flights from Thailand to locations across Asia, is a member of the VietJet Air Group. The company now has 19 aircraft in its fleet, all of which are A320s and A321. In the upcoming years, it intends to transition to a fleet of 50 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
