Welcoming Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at Hyderabad House, PM Modi said Vietnam is an “important partner” in Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific vision. Both the countries will continue cooperation for a free, open, rules-based and prosperous Indo-Pacific. Over the past 10 years, Indo-Vietnam ties have grown to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Our bilateral trade has increased by 85 per cent. Indo-Vietnam cooperation has flourished in areas such as energy, technology, defence and security. In the last decade, connectivity between the two countries has increased and now India has over 50 direct flights to Vietnam. Going forward, India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and Vietnam’s 2045 vision go hand-in-hand. The two nations have agreed that the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement should be reviewed and concluded at an early date to realise the mutual trade potential. A credit line of $300 million will be extended to Vietnam for improving maritime security.
