The first consignment of automobiles rake was dispatched from Manubolu in Nellore district to New Delhi by the Vijayawada Division of the South Central Railway (SCR) zone. A total of 125 Hyundai cars were sent in a new modified goods (NMG) rake, marking the beginning of a new revenue source.
This marks the initial instance of automobile traffic being dispatched from the Vijayawada Division, and it’s also the first outward rake to leave from Manubolu station.
The revenue generated by the automobile rake amounted to Rs 1.9 million. It is projected that there will be around 15 to 20 outward rakes per month, which could result in a revenue of up to Rs 40 million.
New modified goods trains are exclusively designed to transport automobile traffic, including cars and heavy automobile shipments. The business development unit (BDU) of the Vijayawada Division is actively working to expand its railway freight operations. They are conducting meetings with customers to elucidate the advantages of using railway freight for transportation.
