Visakhapatnam Port emerges top gateway for seafood exports

In FY24, Visakhapatnam Port clocked seafood exports of 3.14 lakh tonnes, valued at Rs 17,984 crore. In contrast, JNPA handled over 2.4 lakh tonnes of seafood, valued at Rs 6,396 crore. Thus, Visakhapatnam Port has emerged as the top runner in Indian seafood exports. Cochin Port occupied the third position with over 1.81 lakh tonnes (Rs 6,120 crore).

In the previous fiscal, Indian seafood exports recorded 18 lakh tonnes, an all time high in volume, valued at Rs 60,534 crore. The US and China are the top export markets for India and Frozen shrimp is the most exported commodity.
