Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) secured third rank among the major ports for the period from April to July.
The secretary of ministry of ports, shipping and waterways on Tuesday conducted a review meeting on the performance of major ports.
The ministry is monitoring the performance of all the major ports on key performance indicators – cargo volume, pre-berthing detention (PBD) time, turnaround time (TRT), output per ship berth day (OSBD) and idle time at berth.
VPA fared well on all these parameters. The port handled 33.14 million tonnes recording 3% improvement in cargo volume, 65% improvement in PBD, 16% improvement in TRT, 14% improvement in OSBD and 4% improvement in idle time at berth during the period April – July 2023 compared to the previous year.
